The next afternoon, Sarah and Paul walked home from school together. Sarah walked past her house so she could get closer to Abe's. She glanced at his house but there was no sign of Abe.

"Where are you going?" Paul asked.

"I'm in no hurry. Thought I'd walk you home. Why do you suppose Abe missed basketball practice?" Sarah asked.

"Maybe he got into trouble for fighting yesterday and he got grounded for today."

Sarah nodded. "Maybe. Or maybe he told his dad about Jesus, and now he's grounded forever. Or in the worse case scenario, he's a corpse."

"Sarah! Don't talk like that."

"Sorry! Just thinking out loud."

"He's going to be OK. Jesus will take care of him."

"He better be, or I'm going to blame you."

"Me? What did I do?"

Sarah rolled her eyes. "You prayed for him to find Jesus, right?"

"Yeah. So did you."

"I didn't realize that I could lose Abe as a result!" Sarah's frustration was clearly demonstrated by her tone of voice.

"Calm down. What do you mean lose Abe?"

Sarah turned away from Paul. He maneuvered himself to look her in the face again. "Sarah, what's going on?"

"I'm a bit upset about Abe."

"Yeah, I got that idea. I'm a little upset too, but I'm not becoming a drama queen about it."

Sarah's lip curled up. "And I am?"

"Hellooo. I wish you could hear yourself. You act like you just lost a boyfriend." Paul stopped and studied the girl's crestfallen face. "Oh, my gosh. Don't tell you've been crushing on Abe?"

"OK. I won't tell you. Do you have a problem with that?"

"Oh my gosh. I should have seen it. I know you well enough I should have seen it."

"Enough already. So I had some puppy love thing going on. Looks like it might not matter. Looks like Abe found Jesus and I lost Abe."

"Come on, Sarah. Quit being such a big baby. There's no evidence that Abe is lost. Maybe he's just sick. And even if he never talked to you again, wouldn't it be worth it for him to find Jesus?"

"You're a fanatic, I hope you know! I'm outta here." Sarah stomped up the sidewalk kicking up snow on purpose in her anger.

Paul stood there a second, tempted to yell over her shoulder that she should go home and get her pity party going. He decided against it. "Hey, Sarah."

She stopped and turned.

"Want to go on an adventure?" he asked.

A puzzled look washed across her face. She took a few steps back toward him. "What kind of adventure?"

Paul gestured to her to come nearer with his finger. She retraced her steps.

"OK, I'm here and this better be good. What's the big mystery here?"

"I'm going to visit the Assembly of God church on Sunday before their service begins."

"What for?"

Paul rubbed his gloves together. "I'm going to get some reading material on the baptism of the Holy Spirit."

"I thought your dad won't like you doing that."

"Bingo. That's where the adventure comes in. I have to be a little bit sneaky. Are you in?"

"How out of character for you! How could I pass up an opportunity like this? Actually, this is kind of funny.
